The event will raise donations for the Food Bank of Corpus Christi and local artists. The idea for the benefit came about after the Del Mar College student read a newsletter describing the organization's precarious situation. So Mondragon turned to Casey Lain and the House of Rock for help. Then she began asking friends in bands for their support. Seven acts agreed to participate: Jimmy Wilden, Matthew Watkins, Jokes On You, Marcellus Wallace and The Booked as well as San Antonio bands Los Mariachis Del Infierno and Given a Chance. She's especially pleased to have Los Mariachis Del Infierno, known to regional psychobilly fans as MDI, on the bill."MDI just recently came out with a new album "'Zombia Querida,'" she said.In addition to music, the event also will include vendors like local artist Kris Miller and Fast Custom shirts.Miller shows her works at First Friday ArtWalks and the Southside Farmer's Market."She's donating various works: handbags, jewelry and crafts," Mondragon said. To date, she estimates she's booked bands for more than 50 shows."I've been putting shows together since high school. I've booked bands all over town the Tu y Yo Club, Drop In Club, the Hole behind the Record Hole and The Underground," she noted, referring to a string of now defunct music venues. "And I've also done shows at Theo's, Zero's and the House of Rock."Mondragon admits that the event took on a life of its own as more bands became involved."Basically, the bands that are playing are friends and friends of bands," she explained. "The San Antonio pop punk band Given a Chance is friendly with Jokes on You. This will be Given a Chance's first performance in Corpus Christi. The
