My confidence just shot up and I started to do other things as well as sort the handbags out."After 18 months she found out that a paid position as a shop assistant was up for grabs and made sure her manager knew she was up for it.She says: "My youngest daughter had settled in well at secondary school so I felt it was time to really go for it."Sue's efforts paid off, and she got the job.Before long she had worked her way up to become manager and then, before she knew it, she was given her current job as area manager in charge of 10 shops."The job is so wonderful and varied," she says.
