"It's a nice way to come see the artists and see what they do."The sculptor and other tour artists participated in a pre tour reception last Wednesday (Oct. 5) at Artists Walk in Village Square.Kirkwood can't always answer what inspired one of her works as an artist, she moves from topic to topic.But passion for her art is much more important to Kirkwood than considering what will sell. "It's really a labour of love."She said it's a hobby for some tour artists and a living for others.Art in Action is a not for profit community artists' group that organizes and raises funds for the studio tour.Paintings, sculptures, jewelry, photography and other works by the group's artists are featured in the event.The reception kicked off a pre tour exhibit of works that will continue to Oct. 29 at Artists Walk.It's the first time for these advance events."We're letting the public know (about the studio tour) and it's a chance for the artists to meet," said co chair Teresa Seaton. "It looks like we're going to get more people noticing us."Art will be sold at the advance exhibition and the tour. There'll be prize draws for those visiting all eight studios.Bringing new artists into the studio tour is important, said Seaton, a stained glass artist."There's so much to learn," she said.
